First day off rig at reverb

Today was the day of the rig for the reverb team and we arrived at the location at 9am to start filming cutaways and getting interviews. I also set up our mobile edit suite in the green room. during the day we were getting some good cutaways and interviews. while i was editing and capturing, we had some problems with the mac and the hard drive that the project was on throughout the day, but we managed to resolve them quickly. during the afternoon, the hard drive got knocked while i was off filming and the files went offline, i thought it would be easy to reconnect the files, but it didn't work. we had lost all of the footage we captured today. we were going to make the decision to edit back at college, i asked phil and graham what to do and they recommended to copy the files onto the mac's hard drive instead of using the external hard drive. so i copied the file over and tomorrow we are going to re capture only the shots we need and carry on editing the final offline edit.

Production Started

After we got commissioned, we started to work on the production of our documentary. we asked the Producer for a copy of there schedule for the weeks leading up to the main event. We didn't get a copy as they didn't have one. we interviewed Sophy Blount and Dave Reid, who are the producers for the show, the location we chose wasn't the best, as we were shooting against the TV studio gallery monitors, so when we white balanced, the colour looked a slight blue, due to the glare of the tv screens.
On Monday we got told that the HNDs were going down to the civic hall to do a location recce and a technical recce, we got told 3pm they would be going down, so as we got their at 3pm, we arrived to find out that they had been there for an hour and they didn't let us know.
On Tuesday afternoon, the HNDs where doing a technical set up, to see how the equipment worked and how it all connected to the vision mixer. my producer and myself had a chat to see if he wanted these shots included. he wasn't too keen, but i thought, we have some back up cutaways, and it would be good experience to see what kind of shots we could use for when at the civic hall. so out off all of our group, i was the only one who stayed to film some cutaways, after watching them back on the edit machine, they came out really good, which can be used in the main documentary.

Pitch and Pre Production

We re-did are pitch on tuesday morning, which went better than usual, we had more audience research than before. we started to film some interviews yesterday with the director of reverb and the executive producers. we interviewed them in the TV studio Gallery, we filmed against the Gallery screens which we put the reverb logo on. the interviews we filmed didn't turn out as well as we hoped. The background sound was too noisy, we had too much headroom on the shot and the white balance didn't go well, we had a tinted shot.

Contacting RSC

Today I phoned Nicky Salmon who works for the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford as one of there event managers. I explained what we wanted to do and the dates we could do, she has said she will contact different members of staff, to see what they can let us film.
